Conscious sedation

Our treatment is always delivered gently and with careful consideration for your comfort in a relaxed and stress-free environment. Dental implants are routinely provided under local anaesthetic either with or without sedation, depending on your choice. We can offer sedation for nervous patients or for those who wish to feel more relaxed throughout the treatment.

There are 2 main types of conscious sedation:

    Intravenous sedation

The standard method for intravenous (IV) sedation is a small injection of Midazolam (a type of ‘Valium’) given to you through a vein in the back of your hand or in your arm.

      Oral sedation

A tablet (often Temazepam) taken one hour prior to your appointment can take the edge off any anxiety.

Before any sedation is given, we undertake careful medical screening to assess your suitability. To ensure your safety, the team carefully monitors your blood oxygen levels, heart rate and blood pressure throughout treatment.

        Sedation instruction

If you are opting for sedation we will go over the patient advice leaflet with you during your consultation. This ensures you understand our sedation protocols before you come for your sedation appointment.
