Dermal fillers are injected into the skin and to soften lines, folds and wrinkles and to give volume, plumping and pushing up tissues.
Traditionally, most common areas treated with dermal fillers are the lines from the nose to the corner of the mouth, marionette lines (mouth to jaw line) and the lips. However, advances in products and techniques now allow us to treat areas in the upper and mid face such as the forehead, temples, eye hollows and cheeks.
The fillers we use are predominantly composed of non-animal sourced Hyaluronic acid which is stabilised into a gel.
Hyaluronic acid is a type of sugar (polysaccharide) that is present in body tissues, such as in skin and cartilage. It is able to combine with water and swell when in gel form, causing a smoothing/filling effect. These fillers are naturally absorbed by the body over a period of 6-12 months.
